Getting Started

1. Getting Started

1.1 How to set up your first trading bot

Getting started with Sparx is simple:

  1. Go to your Bot Dashboard and click Create New Bot.
  2. Choose your exchange (Bitvavo, OKX, or Blofin).
  3. Connect your API key, Secret, and (if required) Passphrase.
  4. Select the coin pair (e.g., BTC/USDT).
  5. Give your bot a name (optional).
  6. Click Confirm — done ✅.

🔒 Tip: Your API must have Read + Trade enabled. Withdrawals must stay disabled for security.

1.2 Spot vs Futures bots – which should I choose?

  • Spot bot
    • Uses your existing balance
    • No leverage
    • No liquidation risk
    • Safer, good for beginners

      Futures bot

    • Trades with leverage
    • Higher potential profit
    • Risk of liquidation
    • More advanced, only for experienced users

⚠️ If you’re new: always start with Spot.

1.3 Adding a bot on Blofin

  1. Log into Blofin → go to API Management.
  2. Click Create API.
  3. Label it (e.g., “Sparx Bot”).
  4. Permissions: Read + Trade.
  5. Enter passphrase + confirm via 2FA + email.
  6. Copy API Key + Secret + Passphrase → paste in Sparx.

✅ Subaccounts supported → recommended for running multiple bots.

1.4 Adding a bot on OKX

  1. Go to API in OKX menu.
  2. Click Create API key → name it (e.g., “Sparx Bot”).
  3. Select Subaccount (recommended).
  4. Permissions: Read + Trade, ❌ no Withdraw.
  5. Whitelist IP: 178.22.60.189.
  6. Copy your API Key + Secret + Passphrase → paste in Sparx.

🔒 Always use a subaccount → keeps your trading funds separate from long-term holdings.

1.5 Adding a bot on Bitvavo

  1. In Bitvavo, go to Settings → API.
  2. Click Add new API key.
  3. Label it (e.g., “Sparx Bot”).
  4. Enable Read and Trade permissions.
  5. Whitelist IP: 178.22.60.189.
  6. Copy your API Key + Secret → paste in Sparx bot setup.

⚠️ Important: Bitvavo does not support subaccounts.

Your bot can see all coins in your account.

If you want to keep long-term holdings separate, we recommend using a dedicated Bitvavo account for Sparx.

1.6 API Key, Secret, and Passphrase explained

  • API Key → Unique ID for Sparx to connect to your exchange
  • Secret → Private code (shown once during API creation)
  • Passphrase → Custom password you create (needed for OKX/Blofin)

🛡️ Tip: Always store your keys safely. Never share them.

1.7 How to select a coin pair

  • Choose a supported pair (e.g., BTC/USDT, ETH/EUR).
  • Make sure the coin has enough liquidity.
  • Bots only trade the selected pair.

⚠️ Once chosen, the pair cannot be changed. To switch, delete the bot and create a new one.
