Using Bots
2.1 Understanding main vs subaccounts
- Main account → Holds all funds (e.g., Bitvavo).
- Subaccount → Separate wallet with its own API key (OKX, Blofin).
✅ Always use subaccounts where possible. This prevents bots from using your long-term holdings.
2.2 Can I run multiple bots on the same exchange?
Yes:
- Use different subaccounts (OKX, Blofin)
- Or use different API keys
- And trade different pairs
🚫 Do not run multiple bots on the same pair in the same wallet.
2.3 What if I selected the wrong coin pair?
- You cannot change it.
- Delete the bot and create a new one with the correct pair.
2.4 Can I rename or delete my bot?
- Rename = not possible (delete + recreate).
- Delete = open bot menu → click Remove Bot.
⚠️ Deleted bots cannot be restored.
2.5 What permissions should my API key have?
✅ Read
✅ Trade
❌ Withdraw (must be disabled)
2.6 Can bots go short?
- Current Nova bots = long only.
- Short bots are coming soon.
2.7 Do bots use stop-loss or risk protection?
- Yes → built-in stop-loss or buffers.
- Grid bots → use spacing/scaling instead of SL.
- Bots never use more than ~75% of your balance.
2.8 Can a bot lose my entire balance?
- Spot bot → No. Coins are safe from liquidation.
- Futures bot → Possible in extreme case (liquidation).
Bots minimize risk by using:
- Partial balances
- Limited leverage
- Stop-loss mechanisms
⚠️ Only invest money you can afford to lose.
2.9 How do I add funds to a running bot?
- Just deposit more funds into the connected wallet.
- The bot automatically adjusts usage.
- No need to stop or restart.
